MOGADISHU-Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for a series of assassinations that took place last night and today in various districts of Benadir region, particularly in Yaqshid and Dharkenley districts of Mogadishu.
Al-Shabaab has also claimed the assassination of Hussein Idgale in the Arafat neighborhood of Yaqshid district in Mogadishu.
Radio Andalus, the group’s main communications channel, reported that the deceased was one of the delegates who elected members of the Somalia parliament.
Al-Shabaab has also averred responsibility for another killing last night in parts of Dharkenley district in the Benadir region, in which they have claimed to have assassinated a Somali federal government military officer.
Al-Shabaab identified the officer as Adan Jira Kulow, and said he was a trainer, according to the radio statement.
Meanwhile, Somali security officials have not yet commented on the killings by Al-Shabaab.
In recent days, there have been a number of insecurity incidents in Mogadishu, including killings, bombings and robberies by armed robbers.
However, all of this is happening, as the capital is holding elections for parliamentary seats and the government is preoccupied and busy.
