MOGADISHU (SD) – At least two people have been killed and three others including a teacher sustained injuries people in a terrorist mortar attack in a high-profile area of the Somali capital Mogadishu on Wednesday.
Five mortar shells targeted the presidential palace and a nearby residential area in the capital’s Warta Nabadda district, according to local media.
Eyewitness said that several mortar shells fell in an area near the presidential palace, and one of them exploded, killing two women,
Somali government has not commented on the incident
Al-Shabaab militants are suspected to be behind the mortar attacks as the group carry out frequent attacks targeting the Somali government, African Union bases and public sites including hotels and restaurants in Mogadishu.
