Mandera November 02, 2022 (SD) – Kenyan police accused Al-Shabaab hijacked medical staff driving near the border between Kenya and Somalia.

The fighters allegedly ambushed an ambulance belonging to the Mandera regional government in the north-east of the country, while it was taking patients to a hospital in the area.

The Lafey police station in Mandhera said that the ambulance and medical staff were on their way to Elwaq hospital to refer a patient, adding the suspected Al-Shabaab militants kidnapped the car and the workers fled to Somalia.

This is the first time Al Shabaab known to target Kenyan security forces, kidnapping civilians.
