Lamu December 27, 2022 (SD) – Al Shabaab fighters carried out an attack in the coastal region of Lamu in Kenya, as some Kenyans were celebrating Christmas.

The Kenyan police said the targeted attack took place in the Pandaguo area of Lamu County.

The militants killed two people and also burnt houses in the area according to police.

Coastal Governor John Ellungata said that the suspected militants attacked the village at night, but were pushed back by Kenyan police forces after a fierce gunfire exchange.

Al Shabaab has repeatedly carried out deadly attacks in Kenya’s coastal border towns.
