Mogadishu (SD) – Al-Shabaab affiliated media outlets have posted pictures of their recent attack on the Somali military base in Barire, Lower Shabelle region.

Al-Shabaab claimed to have captured the base, killing 47 government soldiers and confiscating military equipment, including armed vehicles.

The images released by al-Shabaab show fighters roaming the base, bodies of DF soldiers on the ground, parts of the base burning, smoke billowing and more.

Al-Shabaab attacked a DF military base in Aw-dheegle district, not far from Barire, on the same night. However, the Government forces claimed rebuffing the attack, and killing hundreds Al Shabaab fighters.
