Al Shabaab Threatens to take on Somali Tribes, burns fuel meant for U.S. run base

MOGADISHU Sunday, September, 4, 2022 (SD) – Al-Shabaab militants accused the Federal Government of Somalia organizing Tribes to fight them and are aware of the Clans that reached such an agreement.

Abdi-Aziz Abu Musab, Al-Shabaab Spokesman who spoke to Al- Shabaab affiliated media said that they are not at war with Somali tribes. But, pointing out that there are joint plans between some clan elders and the government.

The Al-Shabaab spokesman added that this cooperation plan is aimed at arming civilians to fight Al-Shabaab.

Abdi-Aziz Abu Musab said the militants will fight any Tribe that takes arms against them, just as they fight the Federal Government of Somalia & foreign troops present in the country.

After a recent attack that killed innocent civilians and burned their trucks as well in Afar-Irdood, 35 kilometer South-east from Beledweyne, Al-Shabaab seem to be under a renewed pressure, as President Hassan Sheik says his number one priority now, is to Eradicate Al-Shabaab from Somalia.

On the other hand, Al-Shabaab militants today confirmed that they burned three fuel tankers trucks, delivering the fuel to Ballidoogle Airport and that the U.S Military got a base in it.

The spokesman of Al-Shabaab and also The Head of Operations of the group, Abdi-Azeez Abu Musab declared they attacked the fuel tankers while passing through Hawa-Abdi area, located between Mogadishu and Afgoye.

Abu Musab added that they missed to burn one fuel tanker truck in the attack and retuned to Mogadishu.

Images taken from the scene showed the fuel tankers burning at the side of the road.

Official from the government said that some of the truck drivers had been injured.

Al-Shabaab attacks are highly augmenting as this this their Fifth attack in Seven days, the militants are known to use guerrilla tactics mainly in the road that links Mogadishu and other regions of the country.
