The attack began with explosions, followed by intense fighting between Al-Shabaab militants and the joint forces. Both sides engaged in a fierce battle after the initial blasts.
Officers from the Somali National Army and Jubaland’s Darwish forces reported that they had repelled the Al-Shabaab attack in Jannay Abdalle, claiming to have killed many militants.
Al-Shabaab, on their part, claimed significant victories in the attack, though independent sources could not verify the casualties or confirm which side held the upper hand.
