Al Shabab claims responsibility for Lido Beach attack

MOGADUSHU (SD)-The Al-Shabaab group has officially claimed responsibility for the suicide attack and direct assault that occurred last night at Lido Beach in Mogadishu. The attack resulted in the deaths of many civilians who had come to the beach for relaxation and recreation.

In a statement released by Al-Shabaab, they stated that the attack began with an explosion followed by a direct assault on the Beach View restaurant located at Lido Beach. They claimed that the restaurant was frequented by politicians, military officers, government employees, intelligence officers, and government soldiers.

Al-Shabaab claimed that the attack at Lido Beach resulted in the deaths of 54 people and injuries to 87 others, describing the victims as politicians, officers, and government soldiers, particularly plainclothes personnel.

The group stated that the attack was an act of revenge against those they accuse of oppressing Muslims, and they emphasized that they will retaliate whenever Muslims are harmed.

Al-Shabaab praised the individuals who carried out the attack, calling them heroes who martyred themselves while targeting those they labeled as apostates. They reiterated their commitment to fighting for the protection and safety of the Muslim community.
