LAMU (SD) – Various reports have emerged about a heavy explosion targeting Kenyan forces near the coastal town of Lamu in Kenya.
The explosion, caused by a landmine, hit a vehicle carrying Kenyan soldiers as they were traveling through the Kaambooni area, resulting in casualties including deaths and injuries.
Local sources reported that following the explosion, Kenyan soldiers fired shots and conducted operations to search for those responsible for the attack.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the explosion, stating that they completely destroyed the vehicle and caused deaths and injuries among the soldiers.
On the other hand, there has been no statement from Kenyan security officials regarding the explosion that reportedly harmed their forces.
The situation at the explosion site is now calm, and the Kenyan soldiers have continued their journey, according to some local residents.
