Mogadishu June 10, 2023 (SD) – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia held a meeting at Villa Somalia with the Special Representative of the African Union Commission Chairperson for Somalia, Mohamed El-Amine Souef, along with the Chief of Staff of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding.

They discussed the progress of AMISOM in Somalia and the strengthening of the security of the Somali National Army.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Amine Souef highlighted the efforts of the government in countering the threat posed by Al-Shabaab in the country and the consolidation of the second phase of the military offensive.

In a statement, Villa Somalia, President Hassan Sheikh expressed his gratitude for the significant achievements made by the Somali forces in combating the insurgency and the ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab, emphasizing the importance of the intelligence and military support of the second phase of the offensive against the group to bring lasting peace to Somalia.
