MOGADISHU (SD) – ATMIS forces fired heavy artillery shells at El-Baraf village under Mahaday district in Middle Shabelle region, which is controlled by Al Shabaab.

A number of mortar shells hit Al Shabaab controlled neighborhoods in the El-Baraf area, displacing most of the residents.

According to our sources, the shells hit deserted neighborhoods, and there are also reports of some casualties from the shelling.

ATMIS forces also fired mortars at Miirtuugo, not far from El-Baraf, It is not yet known whether the Al-Shabaab fighters suffered any casualties.

Al-Shabaab launched a major offensive destroying a Burundian military base in El Baraf earlier this month, killing many soldiers and confiscated weapons and ammunition.
