Baidoa December 24, 2022 (SD) – The situation in Baidoa is calm today, following yesterday’s deadly clashes between the South West administration forces and those loyal to the opposition politicians who oppose president Laftagreen’s one-year term extension in office.
The President of the South West, Abdiasis Hassan Mohamed (Laftagareen) today called for peace and launched an investigation into the violence in Baidoa that caused the death of more than 10 people.
The president, who did not take responsibility for yesterday’s incident, called on the opposition candidates to attend the South West reconciliation conference in Baidoa early in the new year.
The speaker of the Somali Federal Parliament Sheikh Adan Madobe recently called for a reconciliation conference in Baidoa.
