Mogadishu December 24, 2022 (SD) – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, accused military officials of the Somali government of collaborating with Al-Shabaab in carrying out attacks in Mogadishu.

The president made the revelation at the 79th anniversary of the establishment of the Somali Police Force.

The president revealed that Al-Shabaab’s explosives-laden vehicles were escorted through security checkpoints by Somalia’s military officers.

The President added that investigations are currently underway against army officers who ordered vehicles used for explosions to pass through checkpoints.

President Hassan Sheikh’s statement follows a brazen Al Shabaab attack on Hotel Rays near Villa Somalia.
