Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi attended an online ceremony celebrating 13 young Somaliland graduates from universities across the world including the United States.
These graduates attended Somaliland’s premier tech school Abarso, located in the outskirts of Hargeisa, Somaliland.
“I congratulate the young people who are graduating today from the tens of universities across the United States who have also persevered.” Said the president.
The president said since the country’s independence from Britain 60 year ago, this is the first opportunity for Somaliland students to get an opportunity to gratitude from universities.
The president thanked all who helped and above all, the Abarso School officials who helped send these students to multiple universities around the world.
Since Abaarso Tech opened in Somaliland in 2009, about 150 Abaarso students who graduated have all received foreign scholarships.
Currently there are 275 students in Grade 7 to Grade 12.
This year’s ceremony involved the single highest number of graduates ever to graduate from international universities.
