London April 18, 2023 (SD) – The UK’s Foreign Ministry has issued a press release stating that Michael Nithavrianakis has been appointed as the new ambassador to Somalia.

Mr. Nithavrianakis will resume the position in May 2023, according to a statement from the Foreign Office.

Michael Nithavrianakis is an experienced diplomat who has held several senior positions at the Foreign Office, most recently serving as the UK Consul General and Director of Trade and Investment at the UK Consulate in Milan, Italy, from 2022 to 2023.

He has also worked at UK embassies and consulates in countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Greece, Saudi Arabia, and Ghana.

Michael Nithavrianakis replaces Ms. Kate Foster who took up the role in February 2021.
