Hargeisa (SD) – Hargeisa regional court has today ruled the release of a prominent a young social media personality from Mogadishu also ordering him to leave the country in 48 hours.

Bilal Bulshawi was arrested for offending Somaliland after he ordered a tea made in the colors of the Somali flag at a restaurant in Hargeisa.

Somaliland youth recently demanded that Bilal be released during a ceremony honoring Ahmed Mohamed Hassan (Ahmed Dheere), a pilot from Mogadishu who in 1988 refused to bomb Hargeisa during the civil war.

Somaliland’s interior minister Mohamed Kahin Ahmed who was attending the ceremony promised to release Bilal Bulshawi.

Bilal Bulshawi is expected to return to Mogadishu in the next few hours.
