JOWHAR(SD)-The Burundian troops from Sector 5 of the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) today handed over three bases in the city of Jowhar, the capital of Hir-Shabelle.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Minister of Finance of Hir-Shabelle, Abdirahin Ciise Cadow, senior officers of the army, and other officials.
General Ibrahim Yusuf, one of the commanders of the Somali National Army who spoke at the ceremony, said that the Somali National Army had efficiently taken over the bases vacated by ATMIS.
In many parts of the country, the 3rd phase of the reduction of the forces of the African Union ATMIS mission is underway.
