Beijing (SD) – A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commented on the visit of an official from Taiwan who attended the inauguration ceremony of the “elected President” of Somaliland.

China has expressed deep appreciation for the Somali government’s adherence to the One-China principle and firmly supports Somalia in defending its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, said Mao Ning, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mao reiterated that there is only one China, and the island of Taiwan is an inseparable part of China. The attempts by the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan to seek independence through external means and divide the country are expected to fail.

Francois Wu, leading a delegation from Taiwan, is on a visit to Somaliland and participated in the inauguration ceremony of the “elected President” of Somaliland.
