MOGADISHU – The Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Hassan Adan, today welcomed the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Somalia, H.E. Wang Yu, and his accompanying delegation at the ministry’s headquarters. The Director-General of the Ministry, Mr. Abdi Dirshe, attended the meeting.
During the discussions, both sides emphasized strengthening the historic bilateral relations between Somalia and China. They highlighted the importance of expanding economic cooperation, particularly in fisheries and the blue economy.
Minister Ahmed Hassan Adan underscored the strong trade partnership between the two nations in fisheries and the blue economy sector. He reiterated the ministry’s commitment to developing opportunities for marketing Somali seafood products.
Ambassador Wang Yu expressed China’s readiness to open its vast markets to Somali businesses engaged in fisheries and the blue economy. He noted that these products could be exported to China duty-free, facilitating greater trade exchange.
The meeting reaffirmed both countries’ dedication to deepening collaboration in key economic sectors for mutual benefit.
