Chinese Ambassador to Somalia cancels a planned visit to Hargeisa

Mogadishu (SD) – Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Qin Jian has abruptly canceled his planned visit to Hargeisa, according to source who are familiar with the matter.

Mogadishu-based Ambassador Qin Jian was previously reported to be scheduled to visit the Somaliland’s capital Hargeisa on Monday.

According to the source, the ambassador, who was scheduled to travel to Hargeisa on board a Djibouti Air from Mogadishu, canceled his flight.

There is no official word if the Chinese ambassador’s cancellation was due to his government’s doing or it had to do lack of Somaliland interest on hos visit.

The Chinese ambassador to Mogadishu since the establishment of relations between Somaliland and Taiwan, started pushing back on the new relationship and was seen communicating his country’s disapproval of the diplomatic ties between the two countries.
