Somaliland accuses Somalia of stalling talks

Hargeisa (SD) – The President of Somaliland Muse Bihi Abdi while meeting with the European Union Ambassador to Somalia in Hargeisa today, accused the Somali federal government in delaying the talks between the two countries.

The Somaliland opposition parties, Wadani and UCID who joined the president in the meeting with the EU ambassador Nicolas Berlanga , said that the Somaliland government is ready to resume the bilateral talks in Djibouti.

Somaliland says the federal government has twice submitted excuses for not reopening the conference, which reduces the prospect of the talks.

Its not known what if any can the EU ambassador do about the allegation, nor was his response to it made public.

Somaliland declared independence in 1991, and has since established a viable nation, while Somalia is yet to achieve the same level of governance, making the reunification argument irrelevant, this is believed to be the main obstacle in achieved a viable agreement between the two sides.
