Mogadishu (SD) – A Consultative Meeting between the Federal Government of Somalia and the Regional Governments officially opened today at Villa Somalia.

The Acting Director of Information and Media Relations of the Presidential Palace, Mr. Abdirashid Mohamed Hashi, highlighted the efforts of the leaders to move forward with the finalization of the Electoral Agreement, so the country can hold elections in a timely manner.

“The National Presidency welcomes the efforts of the Heads of State and Government of Benadir Region to attend the conference, this conference is important for the implementation of the country’s elections.” Said Mr. Hashi.

Before the opening of the conference, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo held meetings with Heads of State and the Governor of Benadir Region, on how the Somali people can enjoy their constitutional right to elect officials they trust to govern the country.

The opening of the conference was attended by the Presidents of Hirshabelle Mohamed Abdi Ware, South West Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed, Puntland Said Abdullahi Deni, Jubaland Ahmed Mohamed Islam, Galmudug Ahmed Abdi Kariye and the Governor of Benadir Omar Mohamud Mohamed.
