COVID-19 Variant found in India spotted in East Africa

Nairobi (SD) – New cases of the deadly COVID-19 Variant found in India have been spotted in East Africa in the past few days, according to local media.

The Kenyan Ministry of Health confirmed the cases after it investigated before deciding the ban on all flights from India.

Five recent cases involved people working at a fertilizer factory in western Kenya.

India is currently in the grip of a new strain of Covid-19, infecting hundreds of thousands of people, with cases reportedly under reported every day.

So far, more than 226,000 people have died from the disease in India. It has affected more than 20 million people.

Despite the dire situation, the World Health Organization (WHO) is yet to identify Covid-19 in India as a variant.
