Afgoye (SD) – The Somali National Army (SNA) has seized a truck loaded with explosives belonging to Al-Shabaab militants in Mogadishu in the village of Cad Adeey in Afgoye district of Lower Shabelle region.
The vehicle has been reportedly ready for some time and it is said that Al-Shabaab militants wanted to attack residents of Mogadishu and the two Shabelle with it.
Officials from the Danab Commandos told the Somali Armed Forces Radio that the vehicle they seized during the operation was a civilian-type vehicle and was packed with explosives.
Officials who spoke on behalf of Danab also confirmed that the residents of the area where the car bomb was being prepared had alerted them.
Most of the car bombs al-Shabaab uses in Mogadishu attacks are prepared in the Shabelle regions north and south of the Somali capital.
