BOSSASO (SD) – Puntland’s Darawish forces have announced that 10 Al-Shabaab militants have been killed in a fierce battle in the mountains of Af-Urur area in Bari region.

The fighting erupted after al-Shabaab launched a mortar attack on the Puntland Darawish base in Af-Urur, the troops at the base reportedly had intelligence on the attack.

Posted pictures from the military base show the bodies of a numerous Al-Shabaab militants, who reportedly were killed in the Af-Urur battle zone.

Also, five Puntland soldiers were killed in the fighting, including commander Said Abdikarim whose vehicle was hit by a landmine.

Al-Shabaab fighters have had deadly repeated clashes with Puntland forces in Af-Urur area in the past.
