MOGADISHU (SD) – Al-Shabaab fighters have reportedly attacked an African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) base in Kudha, Lower Jubba region.
The sources added that the fighting lasted for about an hour and the sound of gunfire could be heard in as far as Kulbiyow area.
Witnesses said occasional explosions, mostly grenades, were heard and that there were casualties at the Kenyan army base.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it had killed a Kenyan army officer.
There are no independent sources who can confirm the group’s claims, and neither the Jubaland nor Kenyan authorities have yet commented on the fighting and the casualties.
