MOGADISHU (SD) – Somaliland delegates have today elected Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Guled as the first MP for Somaliland.

Guled garnered 97 votes of possible 101 votes, beating his only opponent Mustaq Ibrahim Yusuf. Hussein Arab Essa who had been occupying the seat during in the 10th parliament.

Only two seats are being contested for today. The elections are being held at the General Kahiye Police Academy in Hamar Jajab district.
