Djibouti reacts to Farmajo’s visit to Asmara by inviting Kheyre

Mogadishu (SD) – The government of Djibouti has responded indirectly to a recent visit by the President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo to Eritrea.

The government of Djibouti has been at loggerheads with the government of Eritrea over a border issue, viewing Farmajo’s visit and bilateral agreements with Eretria a diplomatic portrayal.

The Presidents of Somalia and Eritrea in their recent meeting in Asmara agreed to intensify regional integration efforts between Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia.

The Djiboutian government responded to the president Farmajo trip with an official invitation to the former Somali prime minister Hassan Ali Kheyre.

President of the Republic of Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh received the former Prime Minister of Somalia Hassan Ali Kheyre at the presidency today.

The government of Djibouti and the former prime minister of Somalia have not issued any statement on today’s meeting.

Its not the first time that the Djibouti government had invited president Farmajo’s local political adversaries, Puntland state president Deni recently enjoyed a high profile official visit and the Galmudug President Qoor qoor.

Kheyre is a candidate for the presidency of Somalia in the upcoming elections, against his former boss and the current president of country.
