ADDIS ABABA (SD) -The Vice President of Ethiopia’s Prosperity Party, Adam Farah Ibrahim, responded in a lengthy Facebook post to a recent statement by President Hassan Sheikh, in which the President claimed that Ethiopia was acting against the sovereignty of Somalia.
Adam Farah stated that the governments of Ethiopia and Somalia share a long border of about 1,700 kilometers and that the people living on either side of this border are brothers who share culture, religion, and heritage.
He further mentioned that after the collapse of Somalia, Ethiopia took in many refugees fleeing the civil war, and that Ethiopia made significant efforts to help Somalia re-establish a functioning government that could restore security and order.
Continuing his statement, Adam Farah expressed that the remarks coming from the Somali government are disgraceful and offensive to the Somali people, and he noted that such statements harm the coexistence and good neighborliness among the peoples of the Horn of Africa.
Finally, the Vice President of the ruling Prosperity Party, Adam Farah, called on the leaders of Somalia, urging them to focus on working for the interests of the Somali people and to strengthen the brotherhood between the two countries, Somalia and Ethiopia.
