Southwest forces take on AS in Burhakaba

BAIDOA (SD)-Reports from the Bay region indicate that a major operation against Al-Shabaab took place today in the outskirts of Burhakaba district, conducted jointly by the South West State forces and local militias.

The operation targeted Al-Shabaab positions in the Jameeco area, approximately 25 km from Buurhakaba, resulting in significant damage to the group, according to a brief statement from the Federal Government of Somalia.

The commander of the Daraawiishta forces in Buurhakaba, Sandheere Hassan Aadan, who led the operation, mentioned that the operation is still ongoing, and they have overrun several positions held by Al-Shabaab militias in the area.

The situation is currently very tense, with conflicting movements being observed in various parts of the Bay region.

These operations were specifically launched to open the long road linking Hudur and Qura Jome, a crucial route that had been blocked by the group and isolated the surrounding areas for an extended period.
