Ethiopia: Somali Troops didn’t Fight in Tigray Region

Addis Ababa (SD) – The Ethiopian government has denied that Somali forces fought alongside Ethiopian troops in the northern region of Tigray.

This comes after the foreign affairs committee of the Somali parliament sent a letter to President Farmajo yesterday, asking him to respond to the parents of the missing soldiers alleged have fought and died in Tigray region.

“We have seen reports about Eritrean troops that have crossed into Ethiopia we are also witnessing similar reports about Somali soldiers participating in the same campaign. Both of these claims are false and unfounded.” Ethiopian Foreign Ministry spokesman Dina Mufti said in a statement.

Opposition leaders have also called on the Somali government to address the Soldiers concern parents and allow them to speak with them.

Somali Minister of Information Oman Dubbe at a news conference in Mogadishu told reporters that news of Somali troops in Tigray were “fabricated” for political purposes.
