MOGADISHU (SD) – Former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has dismissed reports claiming he dropped his candidacy following alleged deal with Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
In a Facebook post, Ahmed said that he did not ink a compromise deal with his predecessor Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Mohamed and Ahmed hail from same sub-clan of Hawiye clan.
“I want to make it clear that there is nothing about a meeting between professionals and politicians from the Mudulod clan on a compromise agreement with some of the candidates,” the former head of state said.
In the past few days, there had been reports circulating on social media which claimed that Ahmed had struck a deal with Mohamud to become the flag bearer.
