Mogadishu (SD) – Details are emerging from an explosion that took place last night in Mogadishu, especially in Waberi district, the blast targeted a Somali police spokesman Sadiq Adan Doodishe’s Vehicle, near the Afisiyoni intersection.
The spokesman was not in his car at the time of the blast, with reports of casualties as result of the blast, described as a roadside mine.
“Tonight at around 8:55 pm, a landmine was planted on the side of the road on October 21st. The terrorists targeted people and vehicles, including my car, but I was not was not in it at the time.” Police spokesman Sadiq Doodishe said in a statement posted on his Facebook page.
The spokesman’s statement added “Thank God no one was hurt in my car. May God heal the victims. Terrorists cannot intimidate us. We have already dedicated ourselves to the service of the nation, and God is in control.”
Witnesses confirmed to local media that a civilian was killed in the blast and also other injuries that have not yet been officially identified.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast in Mogadishu last night.
