Garowe (SD) – President Muse Bihi’s senior advisor participated a reconciliation meetings between Somalia’s Speaker of the Upper House Abdi Hashi Abdullahi and Somali Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guled Khadar in Garowe.
The meetings were chaired by Galmudug State President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor and officials from the Somaliland presidency who arrived in Garowe for those reasons.
Abdiwahid Abdikadir Abdirahman Mohamud, Adviser to the President of Somaliland on Social Affairs, represented President Bihi in the meetings between Somalia’s Speaker of the Upper House Abdi Hashi Abdillahi and Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guled Khadar, to resolve the dispute over the Sub-Committee that selects the Federal Parliamentarians from Somaliland.
The purpose of these political meetings were to persuade the two officials to resolve their differences over the members of the Somali Electoral Commission representing the northern regions of Somalia in the 2021 elections.
Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guled has reportedly agreed to allow chairman Abdi Hashi Abdullahi to nominate some members of the sub-committees, leaving him to nominate the rest himself.
The two leaders, who met again in Mogadishu yesterday, were joined by President Qoorqoor, with more meetings expected in the coming days.
The Speaker of the Upper House and Deputy PM have not yet released any information about their meetings or who attended.
