Afgoye (SD) – A former Somali goalkeeper Abdiweli Olad Gatamow was killed last night in Lower Shabelle region of Afgoye in what seems to be a targeted killing, according to local media.
The famous Goalkeeper turned coach was said to be praying Tarawih when gunmen entered the mosque he was praying in and shot him multiple times, according eyewitnesses.
The brutal murderers of Abdiweli Olad Gatamow escaped the scene of the crime after fatally shooting him.
Mr. Gatamow was the Afgoye District Sports chairman, and is a well-known figure in the country’s sports culture.
No one claimed the killing of the famous Somali Goalkeeper yet.
The brutal killing of Mr. Gatamow indicates that no one is not safe from these targeted killing, even if one is in a mosque praying.
