MOGADISHU (SD) – The outgoing Somali president, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and leaders of regional states are expected meet in Mogadishu to finalised 17-Sep electoral process deal.
In a statement, Villa Somalia said the leaders will convene in Somali capital for two day consultative forum.
The leaders will discuss the implementation of an electoral process deal signed last September by federal and regional state leaders.
“President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo convenes a two days Leadership Consultative Summit which shall be held in Mogadishu from 18-19 February 2021. The Federal Government, Federal Member States and Benadir Administration will discuss the 17 September 2020 elections agreement,” Villa Somalia said in the statement.
The development comes barely a day after 14-member technical committee from federal and regional level who met in Baidoa for two days announced that all the contentious issues had been resolved.
According to the committee, three contentious issues are the appointments of the Federal Indirect Elections Team (FIET), Somaliland elections Team and the Gedo region.
