Mogadishu (SD) – A convoy of AMISOM troops was targeted by an explosion between Danow and Golweyn areas in Lower Shabelle region, according to local residents reports.
The blast, which was a roadside bomb, reportedly hit some AMISOM vehicles, particularly Ugandan troops, as they were traveling there.
Witnesses said after the explosion the AMISOM troops opened fire, causing a number of unknown casualties.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the blast, according to an statement posted on social media sites that support the group, adding that it had killed two Ugandan soldiers.
There has been no confirmation of the Al Shabaab claims of the attack from AMISOM command in Somalia.
