Farmajo: Every Somali citizen can freely vote to choose the leaders they want

Mogadishu (SD) – Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, at the opening of the 7th session of parliament, declared that the government is committed to holding elections in the country on time.

“We are here to announce to our people that the era of using violence and bloodshed to get seats in the chambers is over and that every Somali citizen can freely vote to choose the leaders they want,” said Farmajo.

The president emphasized that the government is ready to hold timely elections in order to give the Somali people the opportunity to elect the leadership they trust.

“The chairmen of both Houses have declared that elections will take place on time, the prime minister also assured the nation and the cabinet that the country is going to hold an election, and that it will happen accordingly” the president said.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has called on the public to exercise national responsibility over the country’s destiny.

“I urge the Somali people to go out to the polls and vote freely on the party they want to overcome the deadly diseases such as tribalism, poverty and terrorism.” Concluded president Farmajo.
