Farmajo meets with US delegation at Mogadishu Airport

Mogadishu (SD) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo today received a US delegation at Mogadishu International Airport.

The US delegation, which included officials from the State Department, the AFRICOM command and the US Department of Defense, flew from the capital Djibouti where they are based.

President Farmajo, accompanied by his security and election advisers, discussed security issues and the political situation in the country with the US officials, particularly the upcoming elections.

The delegation’s visit comes hours after the United States embassy warned against corruption in Somalia’s military reform process.

The visit also comes after an attack by Al Shabab wounded a US soldier in Jana Abdalle earlier this week.

The United States have been supporting the Somali military reform program, particularly the DANAB commandos.
