Mogadishu (SD) – Somali Federal President Mohamed Farmajo has opposed Prime Minister Roble’s decision to fire the national security chief Fahad Yassin.
Farmajo said in a statement that Fahad’s dismissal was illegal and ordered him to continue his work.
“The decision of the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein Roble, is illegal” said Farmajo in a statement.
Farmajo ordered Somalia’s Spy Chief back to work “The Commander of the National Security and Intelligence Agency, Mr. Fahad Yassin Haji Dahir, is instructed to continue to lead the National Security and Intelligence Agency, in accordance with the Constitution and the Presidential Decree.”
President Farmajo agreed with Fahad Yasin in when and who they should present their report on the killing of Ilhaam Tahliil “The National Security and Intelligence Agency is instructed to present to the National Security Council the expected report at the first meeting of the National Security Council.
President Farmaajo reminded the PM and his cabinet to focus on completing the country’s election process “The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia instructs Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble and the Council of Ministers to effectively fulfill their responsibility to complete the electoral process.”
The controversy erupted after NISA claimed that one of its staff members, Ilham Tahliil, had been killed by Al Shabaab.
The NISA statement was called incomplete by and criticized by PM Roble who then fired the head of NISA.
