PM Roble fires Spy Chief Fahad Yassin

Mogadishu (SD) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble has fired the Director of the National Security and Intelligence Agency, Fahad Yasin Haji Dahir, and appointed General Bashir Mohamed (Goobe) Jama as the new Director General of NISA.

Roble ordered Fahad to hand over power to Bashir Goobe within three days, from the moment Roble signed the letter.

Roble, also cited Fahad’s letter in defiance of the prime minister’s order to submit a full report on Ikraan Tahliil Farah’s case within 48 hours.

A decree issued by the Prime Minister’s Office stated that Fahad Yassin had been fired and that he had become involved in politics.

The dismissed director has been instructed to hand over power to the new director within three days.

The Attorney General of the Armed Forces has also been instructed to investigate the case of Ikraan Tahliil and bring it before a competent court.

Political and security analysts, however, believe Roble was right in his decision, Fahad’s letter to Roble showed him to be challenging the prime minister’s powers.
