MOGADISHU (SD) – Heavy fighting broke out this afternoon on the outskirts of Mataban district in Hiran region between Galmudug alongside DF forces and Ahlu Sunna forces.

Fighting erupted when the allied forces attacked an area between Walamoga and Yibirsuge where Ahlu Sunna forces led by an officer named Abdullahi Abdi Rage were based.

Ahlu Sunna reportedly rejected meditation efforts with Galmudug administration and refused to hand over their weapons to the administration, as result, the TFG and Galmudug forces attacked with about 20 military vehicles.

Fighting erupted in the afternoon and lasted well into the evening, it involved the use of mortars and other artillery shells, resulting in casualties on both sides, but no exact figures were available.

The warring parties have not yet commented on the fighting that took place in Mataban this afternoon.
