Foreign diplomats attend National Consultative Forum

MOGADISHU (SD) – Foreign ambassadors have today joined the national consultative meetings which is underway in Somali capital, Mogadishu.

According to a statement by prime minister’s office, representatives of the international community led by UN head in Somalia James Swan.

Other envoys include US, AU, IGAD, EU, Norway, Denmark and others.

The meeting which kicked off yesterday is expected to further deliberate on ironing out contentious issues in the elections including transparency, number of polling stations, security and ways to expedite the process.

The council will listen to proposals of the partners regarding to their contributions to course correction of the parliamentary elections.

Representatives of Council of Presidential Candidates are also expected to join the meeting.

The forum comes eight days after deadlock sparked betwee President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble following a decree by Farmaajo to suspend PM Roble from the office over alleged corruption and misuse of public land.
