Former Al Shabaab takes ministerial office in Mogadishu

MOGADISHO (SD) – The new Minister of Religion and Endowments of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mukhtar Robow Ali Abu Mansoor, a former leader of Al Shabaab took over from the former Minister of the Ministry Omar Ali Roble today.

The handover ceremony which took place at the Ministry’s headquarters was attended by the Prime Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hamza Abdi Barre.

Sheikh Mukhtar Robow promised that during his tenure, he will do his best to perform his duties seriously, and appreciate the opportunity.

“We will do our best to bring the Somali scholars together and consult with them. We will listen to their opinions. We will face any religious differences with unity,” said Mukhtar Robow.

The Prime Minister praised the former Minister for the time he spent serving his country and for being ready to support the outgoing Minister.

Sheikh Mukhtar Robow Ali (Abu Mansoor) has been arrested for some time by the former government of Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo for issues related to his previous relationship with the Al Shabaab group.
