Former Danish Minister perusing business project in Hargeisa

Hargeisa (SD) – Former Danish Minister of Development Cooperation Christian Friis who recently visited Somaliland gave details of his visit and subsequent meeting he had with president Bihi.

Speaking to the media in Hargeisa yesterday, Christian Friis said that he come to the country for projects related to the fisheries development, and wants to open a fish processing factory in Somaliland in the near future.

“My name is Christian Friis, I am a former Danish Minister of Development Cooperation, now I am here with Fair Fishing to look for an opportunity to support Fisheries. 8 years ago, we came here as the Danish Minister, and we opened the Office Denmark in Hargeisa, and established the Somaliland Development Fund. That was a recognition that Somaliland has done well, and I am very pleased that Somaliland is progressing well, even with the Coronavirus. ” said Mr. Friis.

The former minister also said that they now see a good opportunity to develop the fisheries sector in Somaliland “We see a great opportunity in the Somaliland Fisheries Department, and that is why I am here. Somaliland is a Friend, and now we want to strengthen that Friendship.” He said.

He spoke about his meetings with the President of Somaliland and some cabinet ministers “We have had important meetings with the President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi, the Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, the Minister of Planning and Development of Somaliland, and the Minister of Investment, all of which have been important and fruitful meetings. I want to thank President Muse Bihi, for showing us his support and encouragement in the work we have begun. ”

Finally, he said, “We want to open a fish processing factory in Somaliland to export to other countries. We hope that fish imported from Somaliland will be eaten in Denmark soon.” adding that IFU is the investor, which has already invested $ 3 billion in 100 other countries.
