JOWHAR (SD) – Former Somali president Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has been elected as a member of parliament in Jowhar town.

Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, the former president of Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government (TFG), has been sworn in as the country’s latest MP i n Jowhar today.

Sharif Sheikh Ahmed arrived in Jowhar this morning and won the seat after his challenger Sharif Abukar Ahmed dropped out.

Sharif Sheikh Ahmed received 101 delegates by a show of hands, according to the Hir-Shabelle Electoral Commission.
