Mogadishu December 21, 2022 (SD) – The former speaker of the Somali Parliament, Mohamed Mursal, confirmed that one of his drivers joined Al-Shabaab.

The former speaker, now a Member of Parliament said his U.S. government-trained driver went missing a day ago.

“That man was a driver from the Ministry of Defense. He came with me when I became Speaker of the Parliament, and he was a driver working with me.” said MP Mohamed Mursal.

Adding “That man Hussein has been working with me for 4 years. There is no official reason why he went there, but I have to let him go.” Security measures that are related to that,”

There are unconfirmed reports that the driver of the former chairman of the 10th Parliament, has links with suspects in the recent attack on Hotel Rays, located next to the Somali Presidency.
