LONDON (SD) – British Member of Parliament, Gavin Williamson, has announced the reinstatement of parliamentary committees that had previously supported the cause of the Republic of Somaliland.

According to a report from SOLNA News Agency, citing a social media post by Williamson, this decision follows the successful and legitimate elections held in Somaliland on November 13, 2024.

Williamson stated that the first agenda item for these committees will be to work towards the recognition of Somaliland as an independent state.

The former UK Defense Secretary, who has previously introduced motions in the UK Parliament advocating for Somaliland’s recognition, emphasized that Somaliland is a democratic nation that deserves recognition, with the UK potentially leading the way in this effort.
