General Gesod resigned amid a dispute with the President of SSC-Khatumo.

Las Anod (SD)—General Saleban Barre Gesod, the commander of the SSC-Khatumo administration’s Darwish forces, has announced his resignation and submitted his resignation letter to President Firdhiye of the Khatumo administration.

In his resignation letter, the commander did not specify the official reasons behind his decision but stated that he had chosen to step down entirely from the position he had held for some time. He expressed gratitude to the president for appointing him to the role.

“I do not wish to detail the reasons for my resignation in this letter; I only wish to clarify that I can no longer continue in this role and the duties I have carried out for the SSC-Khaatumo Darawishta forces,” General Geesood wrote in his statement.

Reports indicate that the resignation may stem from long-standing disagreements between President Firdhiye and General Geesood, which ultimately led to today’s resignation.

Prior to this, the resigning commander had served as deputy commander of the Somaliland military before the withdrawal of Somaliland forces from Las Anod. He was part of the forces that drove Somaliland troops out of the city.
