MOGADISHU (SD) – Somali government spokesperson Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu who was seriously injured in Sunday’s suicide bomb explosion in Mogadishu was airlifted to abroad for further treatment.
According to multiple sources in Somalia’s Prime Minister’s Office, Moalimuu will be flown to Turkey to have further treatment.
PM Mohamed Hussein Roble who visted Moalimuu at Erdogan Hospital where he is undergoing treatment, had wished him a quick recovery from the injuries injuries he sustained.
“I strongly condemns the odious terrorist attack targeting Government Spokesman, Mr Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimu who sustained injuries today but is in [a] stable condition,” the Somali Prime Minister said Sunday on Twitter. He also wished Moalimu a “quick recovery.”
According to earlier statement by OPM, Moalimuu was in a stable condition at the ICU. The official suffered a broken limb and has a chest problem following the impact of the bombing.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, saying their operative was targeting Moalimuu.
Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu has been a spokesman and adviser to the prime minister for more than a year, having previously been a journalist with the BBC broadcaster and is a former secretary-general of the National Union of Somali Journalists.
